How Laptop Computers Help Save The Environment
Laptop computers are now preferred by more people than desktop PCs because of their portability. In this fast-paced world, laptops allow us to stay in contact and do our work where ever we go. But did you know that using a laptop instead of a desktop actually healthier for the environment?
If you want to do your share in helping the environment, go with a laptop. Here are just some of the ways on how laptop computers are better for the environment than desktop computers.
Green Laptop Computers
- Laptops help reduce carbon emissions by consuming less energy. Laptops consume less energy overall than desktop PCs. Even when a laptop is connected to AC power, it still consumes less energy than a desktop. That’s because laptops come with power options that allow you to control the amount of energy that you consume and the LCD and LED monitors of laptops also consume less power. Using your laptop in power save mode not only helps the planet, it also makes your notebook last longer. Plus, most laptop models are so energy efficient nowadays that their batteries now last much longer in between charging.
- Laptop computers help save trees by using less packaging. With a desktop, every component comes with a manual and in different boxes. A laptop uses only one small box while the manual and drivers can be downloaded from the internet. Less paper packaging means fewer trees have to be cut down. Some laptop manufacturer even use recycled paper for their packaging in order to reduce their impact on the environment.
- Another way laptops help save trees is though their portability. Laptops are not just as easy to carry around as pen and paper. It’s easy to waste paper when taking down notes and writing drafts. Take notes using a laptop instead. It’s easier to save and you can add to your notes anytime without wasting any more paper.
- Laptop computers reduce the waste being accumulated in landfills through recycling. Laptops are now easier to recycle, thanks to the laptop manufacturers themselves. A lot of laptop manufacturers have great recycling programs that take old, used laptop model to be used for parts or to be sold as refurbished laptops. Buying and using a refurbished laptop helps reduce electronic waste as opposed to buying a new laptop.
- Current laptop computers help reduce soil and water pollution by using less harmful chemicals. There are more eco-friendly laptop models out there than many desktop PCs. There are LED laptops that don’t use mercury and halogen while some laptop models have cases made entirely of recycled materials.
